Irresistible Evangelism

Gil Rowe asked me about the evangelism training course I am currently using. It is called, "Irresistible Evangelism Training Kit: Natural Ways to Open Others to Jesus." You can find it on the servant evangelism site: http://www.servantevangelism.com. It's a little pricey ($125 I think), and there is a book with the same name, which I didn't really like so much, but the training kit and dvd are really, really good. The best I have found yet.

I have always used the "Becoming A Contagious Christian" stuff from willowcreek. And it is good, but people don't seem to like it. Plus I was always a bit leary of the "making friends so you could make them Christians" approach. This "Irresistible Evangelism" course centers around: "Becoming the message; active kindness; active listening; and active sharing." It seems to be much more in tune with the emergent feel. So... consider this a commercial for them. It's not for everyone, but I learned a great deal from it in regards to relating to what we probably would consider postmodern types.

I just saw a statistic yesterday that only 49% of evangelical churches offer any kind of evangelism training. Not sure what I think of that yet. I think it came from Lifeway Resources.

Hey... and welcome back (the other) Dan (besides Dan Kimball). I think there are entirely too many Dan's here.

Dan,

Have you read THE EXTERNALLY FOCUSED CHURCH? I just bought it.

I disagree. There are way too few Dans here. Room for many more! :)

Pastor Eddie Hammond has read The Externally Focused Church and has loved it and used it even in his preaching.

We do not do evangelism training. We consider everything we do evangelism, but this kit you described might be helpful to us. Thanks for the suggestion!

Bill,
I have not read THE EXTERNALLY FOCUSED CHURCH, but I'm thinking about writing THE DAN FOCUSED CHURCH. That would sell, wouldn't it?
