The language of emerging

I thought this was a good post by Jamie Arpin-Ricci entitled "Terms, Identity and the Emerging Church".

He says, "In the end, I don't think it is helpful to engage emerging church faith as though it is something one is a part. Rather I believe it to be something that we are informed and influenced by."

Welcome, Jamie. And feel free to join the conversation here. It's not just for cggc people. (I think I can say that, right?)

Interesting post.

I like what Jamie said about the downside of people rushing to use labels like "I am emergent" or "I am postmodern". I think that most of the topics we discuss on this blog defy a simple label.

It takes much more time to define and defend a position than to simply latch onto a label.

Thanks for the thoughts!
