The Converging Church
I hope it's okay with Mike, but I wanted to congratulate him on getting a shout on Andrew Jones's TallSkinnyKiwi.com for his article The Converging Church. It's a nice post and well worth your read.
The world is changing rapidly. Postmodern thinking is increasing in the west and the East is becoming part of the Global community. Many in the Churches of God General Conference are interested in what church will look like as fresh expressions in the 21st century. This blog has been encouraged by the CGGC but in no way reflects the official thinking of the denomination. It is a place for free flow of thought and conversation.

Thanks for posting this on my behalf Dan. I was going to post it myself, but I wanted to wait a few days, and then my internet went out for nearly a whole day. :(
Anyhow, consider this part-two of my "What is the Emerging Church?" post.
I really appreciate the work that you put into this post, it seems far more "definitional" (nice made-up word, huh?) than some of the descriptors we've played with so far.
I do agree with your comment that as much as some people may look to converge others will react by diverging. I have to wonder however, how much internal fragmentation will occur as the emergent movement continues. Will emergents begin to strongly associate with one stream or another? Will the newness that bonds emergent streams fade with time and can the streams continue to integrate under a broader heading? Is there enough cross-pollination between streams??
