Could it be... Satan??

Char Wyncoop asked me to post this question to the group. BTW, I attended Mike Clawson's church, of which Char is a member, last Sunday. I hope to post more, including some pics, but let me say, it was a great experience for my wife and I. We felt very welcome, we worshipped, we took communion, and we learned about Jesus along with some application for our lives. Anyway here are Char's questions:

How does the emerging community view Satan and his role in tempting us to sin? Not to belittle our responsibility for our choices, but there are some acts that I feel are truely evil inspired.

That question was really intended as a discussion for ECGGC blog, though I appreciate your answer too :) I find the question of evil and Satan's role interesting in that while we talk about fallen angels being cast out of heaven, Satan came before God in the book of Job. His role in that book is that of an agent of God, admittedly an agency that he provoked, but still...Thus, when is he cast out? Does that have any bearing on his role in our lives? We discuss him as almost an "antigod," but God sends/reveals angels in dreams to various people (Joseph, Jacob), can they enter dreams of their own accord? We talk about God's holy spirit at work within us as his agent of change, do angels have that same spiritual agency? can demons have possession without consent? And what does that do to free will? Or to the idea that we are accountable for what we think and do? I find modern spiritual warfare theology contradictory and unsatisfying, thus my suggestion for posting the question...
