Emerging Lessons From the Super Bowl?

I suppose it's probably too late to ask who you're picking for the Super Bowl(?). But we've got until 6:30 Sunday night! Me, I'll take either team. In fact, I think the NFL is the real winner. These are the two most-hyped weeks of the season and there has been no name-calling, back-stabbing, trash-talking or ego pumping by either side. I realize the necessity of labels like emerging, evangelical, fundamentalist, orthodox, etc., etc.... but wouldn't it be cool if we could behave like the Bears and the Colts? I'm sure it's moreso because I live in Indiana, but it sure seems like a LOT of people just want to watch this GAME. And, sure, it's the Super Bowl, but how often are there two Christian coaches; two "nice" coaches; two guys who are friends, yet still doing everything they can to "win"? Makes me wonder if people wouldn't feel differently about the Church if we behaved more like Tony & Lovie. Just thinking.

Much of the time we do behave like Tony & Lovie. Unfortunately, some people don't watch our "game"; they're more interested in our "commercials". :-(
