Who Will be Joining Me at IMPACT 07

Emerging Friends,

IMPACT 07 is just about a month in our future.

As there has been the case in the past few years, there will be a track for the discussion of issues of concern for those of us who are involved in or interested in or a dabbling around the Emerging Church.

I received this information about Emerging Track from Lance:

For the Emergent Track, we've got Phil Harrold. Phil just spent his spring sabbatical with Jason Clark (the UK equivalent of Brian McLaren).

I believe this is the direction he plans to go for his sessions:

1) look at some new definitions of the EC
2) some new locations, globally...
3) some new strategies at home...
4) and some persistent themes.

Mike Clawson often reminds us that the Emerging Church in a conversation. Well, bubbas, Lance has created a golden opportunity for us to converse. I'll be the first to admit that I need face to face conversation--and that I need it with some of you. I'd be blessed if all of you were there.

Also, remember that Rick Rusaw will be there. I yearn to discuss his approach to missionality with you who work in cGgc circles. I'd love to chat with you about what you're doing. What works and doesn't work for you and why.

So, who's already signed up?

Who's going to sign up before it's too late?

Check in. Let us know.

Please?

Thanks.

If there are typo's here it's because I am banging my head on my keyboard. This looks like THE BEST lineup for an Impact since I have known what it was. I only wish I were going to be able to be there. Our regional conference is the week before, and our church scheduled a concert and VBS the weekend OF Impact.

Back to banging my head...

I do hope many can make it to this. Kudos to Lance for a job well done. I am marking my calendar for 2008.

Can't make it this year but enjoyed the conversation last year.

Can't you Skypecast it so we can be with you over the net? Then Dan won't have to bang his head.

It can be done!!!! Just hook up a laptop and a camera and start a skypecast.

I will give Lance 10 Kudos if he pulls that one off.

I thought the same thing about GC. Why can't it be live on the web? There is really no reason. The Southern Baptist did it this year.

Brian (and Doug),

You mean, why can't we watch on the web as Phil Harrold sits in a room alone talking to himself? Lecturing?

Not very postmodern.

Doug, I do understand why you won't be there. I blame Don Dennison for that. (Not really, Don.) I will miss your participation in the conversation.

Bill,

How modern of you to think that we can't participate through Skypecast. It looks pretty easy and I've thought for a while this is a way to have some "face to face" conversations with people all over the world. I think Lance should really give this some consideration. He is currently in New Mexico so don't expect a response this week.

Brian,

On the charge of being modern, I'm afraid that on this count I am guilty. I would be much better off if we could physically be together and then stroll on over to George's to sip a steamer and shoot the emerging breeze.

I agree with you Bill that it is better to be together physically and converse over a cup of coffee. If I could be there I would. I should be able to be there next year. I would encourage anyone who can be there to be there.

However, for those of us that can't be there I think a live feed over the Internet would be great. It would connect more people together and let those of us that live around the world to be a part. That is very global and postmodern.

Perhaps one of you can host a skypecast sometime outside of IMPACT where we can come together to discuss a topic or even a follow up of the breakout sessions. Just a thought!
