Theological Summit w/ Scot McKnight @ WTS

I have been asked to post some info regarding the upcoming Ritz Lectures and Theological Summit at Winebrenner Seminary.

As has already been stated on here, Winebrenner will be hosting professor Scot McKnight, author of Jesus Creed and Turning to Jesus (along with many other books), as the guest speaker for this year's Ritz Lectures on January 9, 2008. Registration forms should be arriving this coming week for most of you in the CGGC.

What I was asked to post was some newer information:
Professor McKnight will also be the guest for the Theological Summit on January 8th from 12:30-9:15 p.m at the seminary. Previously this course has been designated for Master's students at WTS only. However, it has been decided to invite undergrad students, WTS alumni and CGGC pastor's for this time of learning and fellowship.

You may attend the summit as a Non-Credit Participant for $65. This will include participation for the entire day - lectures, worship, and table discussions. Dinner will be included as well.

Seating is limited, so email Carrie Horwedel (academicdept@winebrenner.edu) or call (419/434-4240) as soon as possible if you are interested in attending. CEUs will be available upon request.

I should have also pointed out that Professor McKnight is author of the article "Five Streams of the Emerging Church" (I think it's a few posts down), and has one of the more popular Christian blogs jesuscreed.org. This is right up our alley, and very nice of the seminary to bring him in.

Thanks for putting this up, Dan. For those interested - student participants in the summit are expected to read Dr. McKnight's book Turning to Jesus: The Sociology of Conversion in the Gospels, which I'm told is going to be the basis of his lectures (at least that day). Hope to see you here.

Grace and peace,

Jim Wilder

At this point I'm planning to be there for Ritz Lectures on the 9th. Not yet sure about the 8th.

Looking forward to it; and hope to see all of you there too!

I did manage to get Jan. 9th off for the lectures, if I want it. Big question now is whether I want to do the long drive (seven hours). Tuesday's out of the question because of demands at work. Bummer.

Andrew,

I did attend the Summit. Dan attended Ritz Lectures. The substance of the two was very similar.

I have some thoughts about the theme that I'm considering entering on the blog.

I thought McKnight was good.

Just discovered this blog. I attended the lectures as well and would be interested in a conversation if others would.

I plan to blog on it in a couple other places soon...
