IMPACT
Gang,
I had a blast.
It was a special blessing to hang with Brian and Dan, Jim Wilder, Lew Button, Jerry Rasmus and Ron Dull, all of whom get perfect attendance stars for the Breakout Sessions (Brian stayed as long as he could and then hightailed it back to God's country to do a wedding.).
Thanks to Lance for making missional and emerging themes part of the whole deal.
I was stunned that there were 24 people in one of our sessions. There was a lot worth saying said in our gatherings.
Still, we have a long, long way to go if we're going to make the kind of difference we need to make in the CGGC.

I also had a good time at IMPACT. It was great meeting Lew and Doug for the first time, as well as seeing others who participate here.
I agree that we have a long way to go. Like, maybe someday they'll give us an air-conditioned room even... :)
For me, it is so much more than a "breakout session." It is the essential foundation from which the denomination needs to build. That may sound too bold, but I don't think so.
It was good conversation, but it wasn't enough to create momentum. We will have to continue to create more conversations -- here on the website and in more gatherings.
Thanks Bill, Dan, Doug, and Lew for gathering with me. Luckily the weather was cool enough to overcome the lack of air conditioning.
A shout out to Jim Wilder who gave me hope for the future of education.
Thanks also to Lance for inviting us and giving us opportunity.
It was good fun!
Brian, there are more people than just myself talking about this here at WTS...there is a future for this vision and there are others in our community (sometimes people that surprise me) that are taking it to their communities and congregations.
I had the added blessing of riding to and from IMPACT with Bill and Jerry. The discussion went on beyond the walls of the classroom. It was great to be part of it and to see some bloggers and lurkers face to face. Same time next year?
I hope to next year!
Brian, you mentioned more gatherings. Any ideas (no matter how tiny and seedling-like they may be)?
Tammie,
Fran and I talked about it this morning. We want to do one this fall, preferably in Champaign, IL, maybe November. We have gathered around 100 pastors/leaders in the past at our Champaign gatherings, and think the time is ripe for another.
